Night Support Worker - Learning Difficulties LOCATION: Letchworth, SALARY: £13.15 Basic DURATION: Temp to Perm HOURS: 40 hours per week (21:30pm 7.30am Including weekends) NOTE: WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP OR SUPPORT THOSE ON A SKILLED WORKER VISA. Job summary: Night Support Workers are responsible for supporting people with learning disabilities and behavioural needs to live full lives, develop skills, and maintain their wellbeing. You will be providing support to one customer in their own home in. The customer is currently living in a hospital setting and we are looking to build a new team to support them make a successful move to their new home. This team must have an excellent value base to support the customer to build their new life and develop their skills and passions as an independent person. Daily Duties
  • Be flexible and responsive to the needs of customers as directed by their personal support plan
  • Monitor and report on customer interactions, including escalation of any concerns or changes in customer s presentation or welfare.
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with service-users and creating a positive atmosphere.
  • Work proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the empowerment of service-users and a strong interest in co-production and promoting people's rights.
  • Provide support with daily living activities, including practical assistance to support service-users to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, establishing a night-time routine.
  • Adhere to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself, service-users and colleagues.
  • Ensure ongoing assessment and management of risks within an attitude of positive risk taking .
  • Handover of key information between shifts.
  • Act at all times in accordance with the aims, philosophy and practice of the service.
Essential requirements
  • DBS within the last 12 months (must have original copy)
  • Extensive knowledge around safeguarding
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with customers with Autism/Challenging Behaviour/learning disabilities and supporting them in line with a PBS framework.
