Are you an experienced solicitor witha background in Housing Management and a passion for supporting anorganisation that makes a real difference in people's lives?Paradigm Housing Group is looking for a Senior Solicitor, a pivotalin-house role offering flexibility, meaningful work, and theopportunity to help shape our legal landscape.Hours: This is apart-time opportunity, offering 25-28 hours per week with a highdegree of flexibility. You can structure your hours across 3 to 5days per week, as long as they fall within our core hours of 08:30- 17:30. We're open to discussing a schedule that suits your needs,whether it's shorter days spread throughout the week or a condensedschedule over fewer days.
About therole:
As Senior Solicitor, youwill deliver high-quality, in-house legal expertise acrossParadigm, managing complex cases, advising senior leadership, andhelping uphold our strong culture of continuous improvement andrisk management. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you'll partnerwith key stakeholders, including Directors and Heads of Service,providing guidance that supports our strategic goals and safeguardsour operations.
In this varied role, you willlead on property litigation matters such as residentiallandlord/tenant issues, housing management, and anti-socialbehaviour cases. You'll also contribute to a proactive,high-performing Legal Services team, championing best practices,enhancing our housing management expertise, and helping us achievevalue for money in legaloperations.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Actas a trusted business partner, delivering expert legal services andguidance across the Group.
- Manage an activecaseload of contentious housing management matters, includingpossession action, disrepair and matters relating to propertyconditions , anti-social behaviour action and Property Litigationdisputes
- Dealing with non-contentious matterssuch as policy advice
- Dealing with ad-hocqueries
- Representing Paradigm in Court andTribunals as required.
- Support the managementof legal risks across the organisation, working with colleagues todevelop mitigation strategies and maintain our Legal RiskRegister.
- Champion a culture of legalawareness, supporting teams to manage disputes effectively andunderstand risk management's role in delivering quality services tocustomers.
- Develop and lead training sessionsfor colleagues, helping them become "intelligent clients" whenengaging with external legal services.
- Workwith the Head of Legal on strategic projects, deputising as neededand drafting well-structured reports on legal matters for seniorstakeholders.
- Actively engage in CPD and seekfeedback to support your professional growth and enhance our legalteam's expertise.
Aboutyou:
To succeed in this role,you'll be a qualified Solicitor (minimum 8 years' post-admissionexperience) or Barrister with expertise in contentious landlord andtenant matters. You'll be confident working independently, adept atmanaging relationships at all levels, and able to deliverhigh-quality results under pressure. Your skills in networking,negotiation, and influencing will allow you to support colleagueseffectively, and your ability to explain complex legal issues inclear terms will make you a trusted advisor within theorganisation.
Key skills andexperience:
- QualifiedSolicitor of England and Wales with a current practisingcertificate or Barrister called to the Bar (minimum 8 yearspost-qualification)
- Proven expertise inhousing management, anti-social behaviour , property litigation,including residential landlord/tenant law
- Comprehensive knowledge of civil procedure rules,residential landlord and tenant law, and contract law
- Strong networking, negotiation, and stakeholdermanagement skills, with an ability to communicate clearly across awide variety of audiences
- Experience managingrelationships with senior leaders, producing high-quality writtenand verbal reports, and working under pressure to meetdeadlines
- Experience supporting Boards andCommittees, ideally in multiple sectors and/or within groupstructures
- Knowledge of the social housing,charity/not-for-profit, or property sectors isadvantageous
