They say that first impressions are everything – and visitors to Letchworth Garden City are now getting a much better one.

The Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation are proud to have freshened up the plinths that welcome visitors on all of the major gateways into the town including Bedford Road and Letchworth Gate.

As well as being a brilliant new welcome to the town, the installation of these signs represents the start of a number of investments into the town which the Foundation are proposing for the coming months and years.

Graham Fisher, chief executive of the Foundation said: "I'm delighted that we've made improvements to these signs – we're so proud of the town and have the privilege of being able to make Letchworth a great place for everyone who lives and works here.

"Watch this space, we're hopeful that we'll be bringing some more great developments soon."

The new signage has been updated from their previous burgundy to a more contemporary British Racing Green, with a clearer type face.

As well as installing the new signs, the brick plinths have been cleaned; all the works have been done by local company Broome Signs.
