Armed police called onto North Herts streets after serious domestic incident

Armed police in 'military style' outfits were called onto the streets of North Herts last week it has emerged.

Nub News understands that at least three armed response units, a dog unit and an unmarked unit ready to deploy stinger traps were in place to deal with a 'serious' incident.

An eyewitness told Nub News: "There were a lot of heavily armed copers in military style 'garb'."

A police helicopter also circled for more than 40 minutes during the operation.

Herts Police confirmed to Nub News: "Police were called at 5.31pm on Thursday (August 25) to a report of a domestic incident in Hitchin.

"Due to the nature of the report, armed officers were deployed in the effort to trace a suspect. There was not thought to be any wider threat to the public."
