Arsonists set fire to a log at a town centre park in Letchworth

The emergency services were called at 750am on Tuesday (October 4) to Howard Park in the centre of Letchworth after reports of a large tree stump/log being on fire.

Herts police and Herts Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene with the tree stump still smouldering before firefighters extinguished the log.

A spokesperson for Herts police said: "The Letchworth Safer Neighbourhood Team has been made aware of the incident."

Police are investigating in a bid to find the arsonists.
