Care Luna in Baldock is the first cafe in North Herts to sign up for the new 'Talking Tables' project - for 'Chatty Cafes' as they're sometimes called.

The format is simple. If they wish customers can display a sign that states that they are happy to share their table with other customers, should there be spare seats at the table they are sat at.

Organsier Katie Wilson told Nub News: "Everyone is a winner, people who might not speak to anyone all day, get to have a natter - and they might even get to make new friends.

"I'm sure there may be teething problems at the outset like in most things, but I'm sure with a few tweaks here and there it is very workable.

"It's not a new idea, other schemes across the country notably "Chatty Cafe" have been tried before and proved to be very successful."
