Baldock Folk Club joint organiser Brian Burke will launch three CDs at a special night for the club on Wednesday, 23 October from 7pm

Brian who is known as the Baldock Balladeer and has written 30 songs about the North Herts town has been busy writing two new CDs over the past year and also producing a live CD from his traditional Irish Band Gor Jus Wrex which features the popular singer Dorrie Randall who passed away two years ago .

Brian said: "The live double C D was recorded a few years ago in a local hostelry and is a warts and all sound that you might expect at a real Hooley night with some great musicians and singers who will be there on the night and give the second half of the set a real party feel . "

The other two CDs are very much a solo effort and encapsulate two themes close to the writers heart

"Legends All" features 16songs on people who have left a real mark on life and society and includes national names such as Nelson and Shackleton, sporting icons Rob Burrow Kevin Sinfield and Lily Parr and local legends such as the aforementioned Dorrie and Letchworth rugby player David " Copper " Brown .

The final work is " The Sower " and other religious rhymings which is a take on concepts and stories in Christianity and includes ballads on characters such as Moses , Barrabas and the Good Samaritan as well as a humorous Stanley Holloway type monologue on the Feeding of the 5000 . It is basically a shout out for all who aim to lead caring lives in or out of Christian churches or chapels .

There will be a charitable aspect to the evening as raffle and collection will go to the Garden House Hospice and there is a special launch price of £5 per CD or all three for £12 .
