CCTV appeal after suspected arson in Letchworth
Police are releasing CCTV images of a person they want to identify following a suspected arson in Letchworth.
Officers were called by the fire service at just after 530am on Thursday, March 30 after reports of an incident outside the council offices in Gernon Road.
It was reported that a pallet had been placed by the front doors of the council building and some rubbish set fire on top of it.
The fire was subsequently extinguished and there was no damage to the building. The motive for the fire is currently unknown.
Detective Constable Rebecca Hargrave, who is investigating, said: "We are releasing these CCTV images as we believe the individual pictured may have been in the area at the time and could assist with our investigation.
"I appreciate the quality of the images are poor, but we are committed to exhausting every line of enquiry that's available to us.
"If this is you, you recognise the individual pictured, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, please email me at [email protected]."
Call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/25697/23. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
