A former Central Bedfordshire resident has been issued a £1000 fixed penalty notice following a complaint of fly-tipping in a garage block.
Central Beds Council investigation, which included an examination of the dumped waste, led to a former resident at her new address in Derby.
The incident took place in August 2023, and was reported to the council by concerned residents. The former resident attended an interview in December 2023, where she admitted to depositing waste in the garage block while clearing out her belongings before returning her rented property to the landlord.
She claimed to have revisited the site the following day to retrieve it, but officers found waste at the location during a subsequent inspection.
As a result of her admission and the evidence gathered during the investigation, the former resident was issued a £1000 Fixed Penalty Notice in January 2024 for the offence of illegal fly-tipping.
In a positive resolution, she cooperated with the enforcement process and paid a discounted penalty of £750 for prompt payment.
