Councils and a local group are coming together to help local businesses decimated by the huge Baldock blaze this week.

Hertfordshire County Council, North Herts Council, and Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership are hosting a community event for businesses affected by the fire in the Baldock industrial estate.

A range of organisations will be present at the event to answer business owners' questions and offer them support and advice in the aftermath of the incident.

Cllr Richard Roberts, Leader of Hertfordshire County Council, said: "We are deeply saddened by the huge damage to many local businesses as a result of the fire in Baldock.

"We're here to listen to business owners so that we can provide them with the best support in the coming days and weeks.

"If you've been affected, please join us at Thursday's event where information about the incident and advice to businesses will be available from a number of organisations."

The event will be taking place today, Thursday, (July 13) between 2pm and 330pm in the large hall at Baldock Community Centre.

Adrian Hawkins, Chair of the LEP, added: "Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership is working hard to provide support in association with a number of other agencies following the blaze in Baldock on Tuesday.

"We were saddened to hear about the impact on businesses following the incident at the industrial estate off London Road and we are doing all we can to mitigate the human cost and minimise the disruption to all those owners and those who worked within the units.

"Our thanks at this time also go to Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue service and all the emergency services which were involved in this major incident, while the cost to business has been immense, we are thankful that there was no loss of life."
