Security bike-marking event held in Letchworth is huge hit

The North Herts Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) held a free bike-marking event at Letchworth Police Station this month.

NPT PCSOs Phoebe Taylor, Angelo Pavlou, Rebecca Fannon-Hall and Nat Skinner were on hand to security-mark bikes, while also chatting about local neighbourhood issues and giving crime prevention advice.

PCSO Taylor said: "It was great to welcome members of the community to the station for our bike marking event.

"We security marked 19 bikes and had really good feedback from those who attended who were pleased that it was something that we were offering.

"Thank you to all that came to see us and we hope to see you out and about in our community soon."

Having your bike marked can help deter thieves from stealing it as it makes them harder to sell on. It also means bikes can be reunited with their rightful owners more easily should they ever be lost or stolen.

Another bike marking event is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 from 10am to 12pm in Leys Square, Letchworth Garden City.
