Get set for a right Royal knees-up after Herts County Council confirm more than 400 applications for Coronation street parties including Letchworth

Hertfordshire County Council has confirmed it has approved almost 400 applications for street parties to celebrate His Majesty The King's Coronation over the extended bank holiday on 6-8 May.

Hertfordshire may again be hosting the highest number of street parties in the country.

Recognising the social and community benefits of celebrating this historic event, the county council decided to waive the usual road closure fees in hope of encouraging as many people as possible to take up the opportunity to properly celebrate this momentous occasion.

Owen Mapley, Chief Executive at Hertfordshire County Council, said: "His Majesty The King's Coronation deserves to be properly celebrated. It's pleasing that so many residents have taken up the opportunity to organise street parties and events.

"We hope everyone has a great weekend of celebrations and can take the opportunity to volunteer as part of the big help out."
