Visitors to Letchworth town centre may have been surprised by a splurge of uplifting, creative colour recently.

If you've had a stroll along Leys Avenue over the last few days, you'll have noticed the eye-catching bright strokes in an empty shopfront.

We spoke to the highly-regarded Jack Philbin who explained that Garden Square Shopping Centre and Love Letchworth worked together with Pickle Illustration for such a wonderful display of public art.

Jack said: "The vibrant artwork is personal to Letchworth - while aiming to enhance a key area in the town.

"The vacant unit where the illustrations are displayed is in a prominent location, so the idea was to make it more attractive until the unit is let.

"We hope it puts a smile on everyone's faces when they walk past and children spot all the things we love about Letchworth.

"The bold colourful artwork invites onlookers to perceive our familiar environments in new, unexpected ways to spark imagination and enhances a sense of place.

"This homage to Letchworth celebrates the vibrant spirit of the town, highlighting some of its iconic landmarks and local treasures."

Letchworth Nub News loves the artwork and thinks it is a great idea. What do you think. Join the conversation on our Facebook page
