A Hertfordshire logistics firm has reaffirmed its commitment to the community by providing more than £10,000 worth of support to a Letchworth-based hospice.
Aztek Logistics, which is a shareholder member of the award-winning Pallet-Track network, has marked three years since it stepped up to help the Garden House Hospice Care in 2019.
Based in Letchworth Garden City, just a stone's throw from Aztek's premises, Garden House Hospice Care supports personalised and compassionate palliative end-of-life care for those in need following a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness.
Aztek founder Stuart Charter and his team offered to receive and store essential equipment for the hospice, which would have cost the charity just under £4,000 per year and a total of more than £10,000 to date.
Stuart said: "I've spent my whole life living in the area and the community has a special place in my heart.
"With the pandemic, cost of living crisis and the rising needs of those in care, we have seen first-hand how much charities could benefit from a helping hand. Storing the hospice's vital equipment is essential for them to be able to operate smoothly and have access to the tools should they need.
"When they approached us for assistance in 2019, we were happy to help and will continue to do so for as long as they need."
Harry Folgate, fundraising co-ordinator for the Garden House Hospice, said: "The hospice needs to save as much money as possible in order to ensure that vital funds go towards providing the best possible patient care. This is why the generosity shown to us by Aztek Logistics means a great deal to us here at Garden House Hospice Care.
"Thanks to Aztek, we have been able to use these rooms to store large amounts of event equipment that is integral for helping us organise safe and exciting fundraisers in aid of the hospice.
"The team at Aztek in Letchworth are friendly, helpful and have always supported the hospice. They have also allowed us to display our event banners on the fence at their site which massively helps to spread awareness for our cause and our fundraising events."
This is not the first time Aztek, which was formed in 2003, has answered the call of local causes.
At the height of the pandemic in 2020, the logistics firm offered to receive and store essential PPE at its BRC-accredited 120,000 sq. ft premises to ensure it remained safe and clean until it was needed to replenish stock levels at the local NHS East Ambulance storage facility.
Aztek has also been donating to the Stevenage Community Trust since 2017, resulting in more than £9,000 worth of financial support for the charity.
