LETCHWORTH: Aldi has donated 11,010 meals to vulnerable families across Hertfordshire including our town during the festive.

As part of a nationwide initiative, the Letchworth site at Unit 2, Avenue One paired up with local organisations to make the most of unsold fresh and chilled food after stores closed on both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

In the run-up to Christmas, the German family-owned discount supermarket chain promised to donate 10 million meals to families struggling to make ends meet.
