A Letchworth church is to pray for peace this evening after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Russian forces launched a major military assault as part of a full-scale invasion into Ukraine today, Thursday (February 24), with reports of missile strikes and explosions near major cities.

As the world starts to come to terms with such an act of aggression by Russian leader Vladimir Putin, St Paul's Church in Letchworth are calling on people to pray for peace.

Posting on their official Twitter account, St Paul's wrote: "Take all that fear and anger you fell watching the news this morning and funnel it into prayer.

"Join us tonight in church at 730pm as we pray for Ukraine."
