A fire broke out in a two-storey factory and office in Letchworth earlier this week.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called following reports of smoke coming out of a commercial building in Jubilee Road, in the town.

Four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene, where crews found smoke issuing from the ground and first floor.

Herts fire service told Hitchin Nub News: "Firefighters in breathing apparatus searched the building to locate the source of the fire on the ground floor, and used hosereels and tactical ventilation to extinguish the fire."

They confirmed they were called at 954pm on Tuesday evening, with firefighters extinguishing the flames by 1040pm.

The fire service added: "Crews remained on the scene for another hour and a half to ventilate the building to clear the smoke."

It is understood the fire is believed to have started accidentally.
