Letchworth: Get set for the Pride Film Festival

A carefully curated selection of outstanding LGBTQ+ films to celebrate, entrain and inform will be on offer in Letchworth this month.

The Broadway Cinema will play host to such iconic films as Cabaret, as well as Pride - where gay activists worked to help miners during their lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers in the summer of 1984.

There will also be a screening a Rebel Dykes - a full-length documentary about the explosion that happened when punk met feminism, told through the lives of a gang of lesbians in the riotous London of the 1980s.

The brilliant My Beautiful Laundrette will also be shown, portraying an ambitious Pakistani Briton and his white boyfriend striving for success and hope when they open a glamorous laundroma in the Thatcherite 1980s.

Love, Simon - Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity.
