Letchworth has been named among the most stylish places to live in the UK, by online furniture business Furniturebox.

The Hertfordshire town was ranked number 53 in the country's top 60 stylish places.

The list was toped by Grassington, North Yorkshire.

To compile the list, Furniturebox polled over 5,000 people to ask where they thought the most stylish place to live is.

Letchworth was the only town in the county to make the top 20.

"Last year, we published our list of the Top 20 most stylish places in the UK. So this year, we're back at it, expanding our list and ranking criteria to include 60 locations," the website said.

"Design is our 'thing' and we love seeing how regular folks turn their houses into dream homes.

"But bigger spaces and communities intrigue us too. What makes a village, a town or a city a stylish place to live?

"'Style' is about aesthetics, or how things look and feel; a pleasing appearance creating a sense of effortless harmony.

"Stylish places are the places people want to visit or to live. Filmmakers, artists, tourists and residents want to share these places because they just look so good.

"But, as we learnt last year, 'style' is a point of personal taste. So, we created a poll to ask the people of the UK to vote for the most stylish places."

Survey panels were set up across the UK and respondents were asked to rank locations according to the beauty of the buildings; the stunning scenery; how "Instagrammable" the location is; and their popularity with artists and filmmakers.
