LETCHWORTH: Supermarket Morrisons has confirmed it has cut sick pay for unvaccinated workers.

The retailer with a large site in our town centre says that staff who are forced to isolate after being exposed to Covid will receive a cut in their wages.

Morrisons, who are based on Broadway, have followed similar moves from big retailers including Ikea, Next and Ocado as staff absences rise.

Morrisons workers who unjabbed and who have to isolate but test negative currently receive statutory sick pay of £96.35 a week - a figure that is set to fall in a bid to encourage workers to get jabbed.

Morrisons pays workers at £10 per hour. Covid-positive staff will still continue to get full sick pay regardless of vaccination status.
