Hertfordshire hospice and NHS hospitals' charity share £8,000 cheque donated by biz4Biz

A cheque for £8,000 has been awarded to Garden House Hospice Care in Letchworth and East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity by biz4Biz, the membership organisation that supports businesses in the East of England.

The Letchworth-based hospice won a Covid Hero Award at the biz4Biz awards, where director of income generation, Carla Pilsworth, gave a speech about the rising costs affecting the Hospice - with amount the hospice has to raise every single day to fund their services has increased by 27 per cent in the last two years.

Harry Folgate, Corporate & Groups Fundraising Co-Ordinator at Garden House Hospice Care, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the beneficiaries to receive this generous donation.

"Our clinical staff worked tirelessly throughout the worst of pandemic to provide care and support to patients in our community, and it's great to see their hard work rewarded.

"This donation from biz4Biz will play a big part in helping us provide the best possible care for our patients after being hit harder than ever before financially as a charity."

Fundraising from companies in attendance on the night raised a total of £8,000, with biz4Biz choosing to donate half to Garden House Hospice Care and half to East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity – which supports Hertford County Hospital, Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood and the New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.
