Liz Meineck: It's time for a rethink about Cruises - find out why you should consider this type of holiday

The thing I love about them is that you get to unpack all your stuff and actually hang it up, but you still get to see lots of places in one trip.

Most multi-destination holidays involve living out of your suitcase the entire time and that can get a bit dull after a while.

You will only scratch the surface of most destinations you stop at, but it gives you a good flavour of the country/area and you may then decide to go back for a more in depth visit.

Equally, you may think you've ticked that one off your list and nice as it was, you're not in a rush to back – which is also fine.

Cruises used to be for the older generation and be very formal, with set meal times and enforced formal dress in the evening, but those days are long gone.

You can still choose that type of cruise if that's your thing – my parents do this regularly with Fred Olsen and love every minute - but there are so many other choices, there's literally something for everyone.

Virgin Voyages do a great choice of cool adult only cruises for example (sometimes themed for fans of particular music era's or genres), Disney do cruises for families and there's pretty much everything in between! Norwegian Cruise Lines do fantastic value solo cabins for those travelling without a cruise mate.

You can also visit pretty much cruise to any part of the world and choose the size of ship you want too. From a boutique cruise to South America, to an all singing, all dancing cruise to the Caribbean, a river cruise around Europe or a luxury option in Australasia, it's entirely up to you.

There are so many different options, it really is worth exploring to see what's out there – or give me a call and let me know what you're after and I'll do the research for you, absolutely no charge!

Seven Night Cruise to Croatia

To give you an idea of the type of deal available, here's one I saw earlier for a 7 night cruise to Croatia.

This one's a boutique ship that's ideal for first time cruisers who want to dip their toe in the water, anyone who likes a bit of luxury, or potential cruisers who are put off by the huge 'floating city' ships.

Go on, give it a go, you won't be disappointed!

Adriatic Paradise Cruise from Split, from only £1846, including flights and coach transfers.

The Adriatic Paradise Cruise provides plenty of time for sunbathing, swimming, exploring picturesque resorts, towns, bays and some beautiful and unspoilt parts of Croatia. Starting from Split, this sailing trip will take you around the islands of Hvar, Mljet, Korcula and Brac, visiting the city of Dubrovnik as well.

The deluxe MS Adriatic Princess is a sleek, modern motor yacht and the ideal choice for a cruise along Dalmatia's scenic coast. Its size allows it to berth in many of the historic and atmospheric ports of the islands of Croatia.

For your comfort, the ship features 18 very spacious, fully air-conditioned cabins, all with twin or queen-size beds and private en-suite bathrooms. Some cabins on the lower deck also had the capacity for triple share and included an additional single bed.

Public spaces include an air-conditioned salon-restaurant and a fully equipped bar, leading out to an alfresco lounge area with comfortable sofas to relax.

A large sun deck on top of the ship has room for all passengers to take in the ever-changing panoramas of this magical region or relax and sunbathe on the provided sunbeds.
