A 21 year old man from Stevenage has been arrested and charged in connection with 11 offences including burglary and car theft, which took place in Stevenage at the end of August.  

A 24 year old woman, from Stevenage, has also been arrested in connection with the offences and remains on police bail. 

Between 28  August and 30 August, three dwelling burglaries were committed in Lonsdale Road and Burymead, where addresses were entered, vehicle keys taken and an Audi, Mini and Hyundai stolen from the driveways of the properties.  

Two further attempted burglaries took place in Rusling Way and a bank card was taken from a vehicle in Lonsdale Road, which was later used at numerous locations in both Stevenage and London. 

Following an extensive investigation by officers from the Stevenage Local Crime Unit, aided by a call from a member of the public who sighted one of the stolen vehicles, Jake Robertson was arrested at an address in Stevenage on Wednesday 30 August and subsequently charged with 11 offences: 

Two offences of burglary dwelling and theft on 28 August 

Two offences of theft of motor vehicle on 28 August 

Theft from a motor vehicle on 28 August 

Burglary dwelling and theft on 30 August 

Theft of motor vehicle on 30 August 

Two offences of attempt burglary dwelling with intent to steal on 30 August 

Drive a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence on 28 August 

Fraud by false representation on 28 August  

Robertson has been remanded into custody and will appear at court later this month (September).   

Investigating officer DC Stuart Lennon said: "Burglary and car crime are policing priorities for your local teams, as we know these crime types are key concerns for local residents.

"I want to reassure you that we continue to target perpetrators of these crimes and would urge you to report any suspicious activity and continue to submit security camera footage to us.
