Two new flats are set to be created above Letchworth's former HSBC after plans were signed off by North Herts Council.

Under the scheme the ground floor is set to remain as a commercial unit, but the first floor will now be split into one two-bed and a single-bed flat.

The application said "limited alterations" will be needed to convert the former bank offices into accommodation.

Applicant Vishal Luthra said an existing concrete staircase will provide access to the flats.

No objections were received to the application, and it was signed off by the council in June.

HSBC announced in January 2021 it would be closing the Station Place branch. The unit has been vacant since.
