A new forum to tackle shoplifting at a retail park in Letchworth has been launched.

North Herts Neighbourhood Policing Team PC Durham hosted the first 'Plinston Industrial Forum' at Sainsbury's last month.

The group sees managers from the shops on the industrial park get together to discuss the latest crime prevention advice with officers.

PC Durham said: "This group has been set up so that shop managers and workers can work in partnership with us to reduce shoplifting and incidents of abuse against shopworkers.

"As part of this, the forum will look at what current tactics are used by shoplifters so training can be passed to staff to identify attempts to distract staff.

"It will also look at security measures already in place and the importance of evidence capture for successful prosecutions."

The group will meet every three months.
