Letchworth residents and schools have had a fin-tastic month thanks to Seafood from Norway, who recently partnered with several businesses, schools and families in town to launch a 'Sea Change' campaign.

The campaign was supported by a host of activities across Letchworth, including promotions with local chippies, Rock's Fryer and Oh My Cod, to celebrate the nation's favourite dish; fish and chips.

Seafood from Norway Ambassador and Michelin-starred chef, Simon Hulstone, helped educate diners at The Fox and Three Horseshoes pubs in Willian, the benefits of choosing sustainable seafood.

Anette Grøttland Zimowski, Sea Change campaign lead, said: "We'd like to thank Letchworth for being part of a Sea Change. The response from residents has been overwhelming and it's been really encouraging to see people join in on our activities and have fun with new foods. Keep up the good fight Letchworth and remember to choose sustainable seafood whenever you can!"

Eight families in and around Ridge Road were challenged to increase their weekly seafood consumption at home, with activities fronted by nutritionist Juliette Kellow and TV chef and personality, Lisa Faulkner.

What's more, local schools (St Thomas More and Garden City Academy) were each given an educational cookery lesson from school meals expert, Kate Snow, whilst learning how to make a healthy, nutritious fish dish and understand seafood's role in a sustainable future for food.

Seafood is too often forgotten in the future of food debate and what makes a sustainable, healthy diet. Research shows that Brits only eat about half of the Government's recommended two portions of fish a week. Sea Change is here to turn that tide - for the good of the nation's health, and the planet.

According to the United Nations, we need to produce 70% more food to meet dietary needs in 2050. Land-based agriculture cannot meet these requirements alone, we need to look to alternatives. Sustainably sourced seafood can play a big part in helping to meet this demand, which is where Sea Change comes in.
