A Hertfordshire singer-songwriter says he is "so excited" to play the popular Balstock festival this weekend.

Max Ryan will play the Elaine LaRoche/Baldock High Street Stage from 4.10pm to 4.50pm on Saturday (September 14), as one of a number of acts heading to the free community event.

As with all performers and organisers, Max will be giving their time for free to the event which raises money for charity.

This year the chosen charities are: Red Kite, Pandas Foundation, SAP (supportive activities programme), Road Victim Trus and Club 85

"Every year we save that second weekend in September just to make sure we can come along to Balstock each year," Max said to Nub News.

"We are so excited to be a part of this incredible weekend around Baldock and we are so thankful that after a year away the festival is back and we get to be a part of it.

"We find each year the festival seems to get bigger and better and we are so thankful to be able to play some original songs.

"The stage we are performing on (The Elaine LaRoche Stage) holds a special place in the Balstock organisers hearts and we hope to do everyone proud when we step on the stage on 14 of September on the back of Victorious and heading into our London headline show on the 4 October.

"We can't wait to show Balstock what we have been up to and what's Next. there are loads of amazing acts performing all over the weekend from The Full House band to Backliners, Mikeyl King, Kev Maher, Jessica Daisy's Band and more!"

Nub News reported in July that Balstock had been awarded £2,000 from Baldock Community Forum to help meet the rising costs of the event.

Hertfordshire's biggest free music festival is due to take place between 13 and 15 September and is run completely by volunteers.

Price rises have been seen in the cost for security, toilet hire, insurance, and other general running costs.

Organisers pride themselves in promoting local talent and local businesses, and all artists donate their time for free, raising their profile.

Each year they donate money to different charities, and have raised over £80,000 for good causes since 2006.
