Stotfold FC have confirmed their first team boss.

Popular Paul Donnelly has been confirmed as the club's first team manager.

The club said: "Ending all speculation, Paul Donnelly is to take the Eagles forward next season."

A rising star in non-league circles, Donnelly assumed the role last month, following the departure of previous boss and cousin Brett Donnelly to Hitchin Town as Nub News reported at the time.

Modest Paul said: "It's an absolute honour to be offered to job full time, especially at a club that's so close to my heart.

"I look forward to carrying on the hard work we've put in over the last three years and keeping the club moving in the right direction. Thanks to all the well wishes."

Donnelly played a big part in helping the club to a brace of successive promotions under the management of Brett, as a loyal and trusted lieutenant.

Chairperson, Rob Parkin said in a statement: "I am pleased to confirm that following discussions Paul Donnelly has accepted the position of first team manager on a permanent basis.

"Following the departure of Brett Donnelly to Hitchin Town, Paul took on the position of interim manager with an objective to secure our place in the Southern League.

"Paul has had an excellent four weeks picking up 15 points from 21 and securing a top 10 place finish in the Southern League Division 1 Central."

Mr Parkin added: "I felt it important to sort out the position of 1st Team Manager as early as possible and it is great news that Paul has accepted the position as it will maintain the stability and continuity across the club both on and off the field.

"Paul has started to formulate his plans and management team for the forthcoming season confirming his first appointments of Callum Donnelly and Ryan Frater as his assistant managers.

"I look forward to the new season and I am sure our supporters and everyone involved in our club welcome the news of Paul's appointment and will give him their full support."
