North Herts Council has issued information on this year's Christmas tree collections for people in Letchworth and surrounding areas.

Every year, each of Hertfordshire's 78 county councillors are provided with a Locality Budget to spend on projects in their local area.

In the North Hertfordshire District, prior to the Covid pandemic, councillors were each given a total of £10,000 per year to spend on projects which promote the social, economic, or environmental wellbeing of their local area.

Christmas came early for the children of Letchworth this week as the play areas at Howard Park and Gardens reopened after being closed for three months for a major refurbishment.

Our town's Howard Park play areas have reopened with new equipment and a sensory trail.

From Monday, December 27, North Herts Council bin collection dates are changing thanks to the festive Bank Holidays between Christmas and the New Year.

There is a revised bin collection schedule in Letchworth over the holidays.

From this week, the rules on Covid testing and isolating have changed as cases of the Omicron strain continue to rise rapidly.

The Omicron variant is expected to become the dominant strain in the UK including our area, but the government hope the new rules will reduce the risk of spreading the extremely transmissible variant.
