Arlesey set for 200 new homes along with community centre, doctors surgery, hotel and retail stores

A bold new housing and community project in Arlesey moved one step nearer reality after land earmarked for the scheme's first phase has been sold.

The purchase marks a new stage of a grand programme to build new homes, community centres, retail spaces, and commercial spaces.

With outline planning permission granted, the sold land is ready to accommodate the construction of up to 200 homes.

The site is set to be called Arlesey Gate, featuring 2-5 bedroom homes. The first release of homes is due to go on sale in winter 2024, followed by their showhome opening in early 2025.

In a deal agreed by the development team at Savills Cambridge, Miller Homes South Midlands has purchased a 15.54-acre plot at Chase Farm in Arlesey from Central Bedfordshire Council and TT Group, the project's promoters.

William Newton, an associate director at Savills Cambridge, said: "With permission to create a thriving new community, Chase Farm represents a unique opportunity to deliver a high quality development with an emphasis on design and placemaking.'

"We had strong interest in the site from regional and national house builders and are delighted to have agreed a deal with Miller Homes, which signals the start of an important housing development that will significantly contribute to the supply of sustainable new homes in the local area.'

The scheme marks the commencement of a larger development plan involving a total of 950 homes to be built at Chase Farm - with the TT Group granted outline planning permission six years ago.

As well as residential housing, the project offers a raft of facilities including a hotel, a medical facility, a primary school, a care facility with 80 beds, a large amount of retail space, employment opportunities, and recreational and community facilities.

Sports fields, bike and walking paths, and kid-friendly play areas are also mooted in the plan.
