Armed robber with handgun terrorises a North Herts' Post Office on Saturday
Witness appeal following robbery in Pirton
Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery that happened in Pirton this afternoon, Saturday, August 27.
At 2pm, a man walked into Pirton post office in High Street and threatened a member of staff with what is believed to be handgun, before leaving with some cash.
Detective Sergeant Andy Metselaar said: "This was a frightening incident for the member of staff, who was fortunately uninjured but very shaken by the threat of violence this afternoon. This will also understandably be unsettling for people in the village. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to trace the man who went into the post office and any accomplices."
The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his 30s and he was wearing a black cap, blue jeans and a black Adidas top. It is believed he got into a blue Vauxhall Mervia.
DS Metselaar added: "Were you in the area at the time? Did you see a man or anyone else acting suspiciously? Did you see the vehicle described? Do you know who may be responsible? Please get in touch with us straight away. We will do everything we can to find out who is responsible as threats of violence with a weapon will not be tolerated."
