As the August Bank Holiday weekend approaches get set for Folk Around the Tree in Baldock - and all for a great charity cause.

Get set for a day of live Folk Music presented by Baldock Folk Club in the Garden of The Orange Tree, Baldock, hosted by Brian Burke

Baldock Folk Club organisers along with award pub winning landlord Rob Scahill are running their third Folk Around the Tree Event this Bank Holiday Sunday (August 27) from 130pm until late.

The Herts MND Society will be running a raffle and there will also be collection buckets throughout the day - so please bring some cash for the battle to free the world of this terrible disease.

One of the organisers, and host, Brian Burke said: "This should be a great afternoon for a brilliant cause which is dear to both myself and co organiser Viv Lucas and we both have songs on the subject.

"In our first year we raised £500 and last year £900 (topped up to £1500 by Letchworth and Milton Keynes rugby club ) and we hope to go one further this year.

"There is a wealth of local and further afield talent throughout the day and it is free so come along and bring the family."

There will be at least eight acts headed by rousing local Irish ballad band Skimmington Ride who will play in the pub from 815pm untill late.

The whole day will run from 130pm in the beautiful Orange Tree garden and feature a real variety of folk, roots, blues, flamenco, country and Irish traditional music - from some very talented musicians all donating their services without charge.

Rob Scahill of the Orange Tree added: "The pub is delighted to host and help this great event.

"There will be food throughout the afternoon and of course the finest beers and soft drinks - what better way to pass a Bank Holiday Sunday -  yes indeed.

"It's all down to the Tree to support this worthy fundraiser."

The Orange Tree on Norton Road in Baldock dates from the 1680's with awesome real ales and local ciders, great home-made food, and a wonderful atmosphere.
