Reaction to large fire at Baldock Industrial Estate on London Road - nearby Tesco store had to be evacuated

Schools in Baldock closed today

Schools in the town are closed today following Tuesday evening's massive blaze.

A statement on the website for The Knights Templar School says it is closed "following further guidance from both the police and fire services this morning".

Hartsfield JMI School, meanwhile, says that it has been "advised to close due to poor air quality" and hopes to re-open tomorrow, Thursday (July 13).

St Mary's Church of England Junior School and St John's Catholic Primary School are also closed.

Sir Oliver Heald MP reacts

Baldock's MP Sir Oliver Heald has reacted to the 'dreadful' fire.

The town's Parliamentarian tweeted: "I am sorry to hear about this dreadful fire at the Baldock Rd industrial estate tonight, and am pressing for further information and to see if there is anything more we can do to help at this time. This is very worrying for all concerned and I hope everyone is keeping safe."

Bin collections could be delayed and disrupted
