Community based Letchworth bank boosts local football club after big-hearted staff brush up on decorating skills
Letchworth Bank's staff give football clubhouse fresh look
A community-focused bank encouraged its colleagues to brush up on their decorating skills to give a football club's premises a facelift.
Colleagues from Redwood Bank in Letchworth joined Langford FC's club chairman, Paul Vince, to paint the clubhouse at Forde Park.
The Redwood Bank team gave the building a fresh lick of paint and helped tidy the site on their annual community charity day on Friday, July 22.
Graham Reynolds, the Bank's Director of ESG, who helped organise the day, said: "Redwood Bank is passionate about supporting the community and taking a day away from the office to do something useful for one of our local sports organisations is very rewarding.
"The club is dependent on the goodwill of its small band of volunteers, so it was very satisfying for us to spend the day there and take one of the jobs from their 'to-do' list."
Langford FC, whose first team plays in SSML Division One, was founded in 1908 and have teams for men and women, as well as younger players. They open their ground up in the summer for for football camps during the school break ahead of the new season, so Redwood Bank had a small window of opportunity to complete the work.
Paul said: "We are more than pleased with Redwood Bank's work. We're not an affluent club, so we're always very grateful for any help. It looks really fresh and has that lovely clean smell about it."
He said it had been 10 years since the clubhouse had last been painted and it was well overdue for a fresh coat.
Graham said: "This was a very worthwhile cause. It was a great way for the team to bond and have some fun away from the office. It was also in line with our culture and a part of our ESG plan.
