Here's the latest Letchworth Nub News column from the brilliant David's Music in the heart of our town.

Read on for their expert take on music in the aftermath of the iconic Glastonbury Festival.

......

This week has been a flurry of selling albums from Glastonbury highlights – you guys have been loving the BBC coverage this year!

We must applaud the Big British Castle this year, there has been a fantastic variety of genres and stages covered, and a wealth of talent on display!

You've been especially loving St Vincent (What a set! One to watch on the i-player if you have access!), as well as Soccer Mommy (The new album 'Sometimes, Forever' has been on the stereo every day since it was released last week!), Khruangbin (A perennial favourite of ours), Olivia Rodrigo (pure quality pop), Jack White (what a stonking set and an incredible mix of all of his bands!) as well as some of the great headliners – we're looking at you Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, Diana Ross & Pet Shop Boys.

Truly something for everyone.

We have good stock in store of all of the above and more!

This week we've also been enjoying some of the new music offerings… Paolo Nutini is back with a more expansive sound, with his more sensitive side shining through. The album is a 70-minute epic that spans the distance from classic rock to post-punk to hypnotic Krautrock, in the process proving its value as his deepest, most varied, most accomplished, and ultimately most rewarding set so far.

PS: We're loving the latest Ace Records (our new neighbours – welcome to Letchworth guys!) compilation: Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs present Fell From the Sun - Downtempo and After Hours 1990-91. The CD is out this week and we're eagerly awaiting the 2LP vinyl edition too. That one should be with us early next week, and we can't wait! "Fell From The Sun" gathers the best of the 98bpm records that soundtracked the summer of 1990. It has been compiled by Bob Stanley, whose own group Saint Etienne makes an appearance.

As always, if you need inspiration, pop in and see us.

We're open 7 days a week and we're very happy to recommend the things we're loving at the moment!
