Police are appealing for witnesses and information following reports of a dog being dangerously out of control in Letchworth.

It was reported that at around 9.30am on Thursday 25 July a woman was walking her dog in fields behind North Herts Leisure Centre off Baldock Road, when a dog off the lead, believed to be a female XL bully with a pink collar, attacked her dog.

Her pet did not suffer any physical injuries.

The owner of the dog off the lead was described as a white man, around 40-50 years of age, bald and wearing knee length shorts and a light-coloured t-shirt, he was part of a group of four or five people.

PC Callum Ellis, who is investigating, said: "I'd like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident and saw what happened.

"I am also appealing for the owner of the dog to come forward.

"I can be contacted directly by email via [email protected]."
