A new hospice depot has opened for donations in Letchworth.

Garden House Hospice opened their new depot this weekend which saw hospice staff, volunteers and supporters gather for the grand opening ceremony.

The charity have moved from their old depot to 1 Protea Way, Pixmore Avenue.

The much loved Hospice said in a statement: "Garden House Hospice Care is proud to announce the grand opening of our new and improved 'all under one roof' distribution centre, The Depot."

The hospice provides free specialist care for patients, families and carers facing life-limiting illnesses across North Hertfordshire, Stevenage and surrounding towns and villages.

Richard Dearden, Garden House Hospice Care chairman of the trading board, added: "We are here today to commemorate the opening of our new distribution centre – The Depot. Thank you for joining us to mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Garden House Hospice Care. 

"Some of you may have visited our old building down Green Lane, and you may be wondering why we decided to move to a different location. Whilst our old Distribution Centre served us well over the past 17 years, it became clear that it was no longer suitable for our evolving needs and ambitions.  

"One of the main reasons we sought out a new premises was to provide a better workplace for our dedicated staff and volunteers.

"They really are a remarkable team, and they deserved a more suitable working environment. I am deeply proud that we have managed to achieve this for them – and they should all be proud of the amount of effort they have put into making this happen."

New Address: The Depot, 1 Protea Way, Pixmore Avenue, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 1JT.
