Letchworth: Winter has arrived with snow flurries and strong winds and gales expected.

Gusts of more than 50mph over the weekend forced the cancellation of our town's Christmas Lights Switch-On with more expected.

Today, [Monday, November 29] starts brightly with plenty of cool winter sunshine after widespread frosts, after the coldest night of the season so far, when temperatures dropped to below zero.

This afternoon, cloud will develop, with rain expected towards the evening, which will also be windy.

The cold snap is expected to last for a few more days, with temperatures hovering around zero to two degrees, before milder air appears over the course of the week - before a cold weather system returns.
