We all know Letchworth is a great place to live with so many wonderful things to see and do.

While our town can lay claim to being the world's first garden city, there is so much more to it than that.

So, here's Nub News' five must-see places in and around our town to visit.

5) Standalone Farm:

Who hasn't savoured taking their kids to this wonderful working farm at the edge of our town?

From buying food to feed the goats to taking a tractor ride around the grounds, Standalone Farm has always been great fun.

Of course, Covid has changed things for us all, but a springtime visit to this farm is good for the spirits - and the wallet.

4) Broadway Gallery and Cinema

Broadway Cinema opened its doors on August, 26, 1936 to a packed screening of Follow the Fleet starring Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.

The stunning Art Deco building, designed by Bennett and Bidwell, built by Howard Hurst, soon became a popular site for live music from Acker Bilk and Marti Wilde.

More recently Broadway Cinema featured as one of the pubs in the flick filmed in our around Letchworth, The World's End, starring Simon Pegg, handing locals a buzz in viewing our town on celluloid.

In February 2016, The Heritage Foundation brought Letchworth's arts venues under the Broadway name.

Letchworth Arts Centre became Broadway Studio & Gallery, exhibiting arts, craft and design by internationally acclaimed artists alongside local and emerging talent. Their current exhibition sees Freya Pocklington returning to Broadway with a powerful new exhibition called Ostara.

The site is proud to be owned and run by the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, a Community Benefit Society that reinvests the money made from its commercial portfolio to support a wide range of charitable commitments.

3) The world's first roundabout

Not only can our town offer the country's original Garden City, but it also plays host to the Great Britain's first roundabout.

The first 'gyratory traffic flow system' - to give it its full name - can be found among the tree-lined streets of Broadway.

Created in 1909, town architects Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin introduced a road junction to this country as part of their master plan for the Garden City.

A trip to Letchworth isn't complete until you've driven your car there, navigated your bicycle around it, or discovered it as a pedestrian.

2) Norton Common/Howard Park and Gardens

Letchworth is blessed with green spaces moments from our town centre. Norton Common is a wonderful hidden space, perfect for walking and taking in nature.

While for many children and parents, Christmas came early at Howard Park and Gardens after the area was revamped after being closed for three months for a major refurbishment.

If you have kids, this place is a must. Located in the heart of Letchworth, Howard Park and Gardens was created over 100 years ago as a central part of the world's first garden city. The park side includes play areas for all ages and abilities, a large paddling pool with splash fountains and a summer refreshment kiosk. 1) Spirella Building Nub News loves the Spirella. Once a corset factory, now a hub for businesses with an outstanding facade, with the evocative Spirella Ballroom, the centrepiece of magnificent restored building. The Spirella is a near-symmetrical four-storey factory building, built in three stages between 1912 and 1920. The site fell into derelict disrepair but was tastefully restored in 1996 and prior to Covid acted as a vibrant business centre. Spirella houses more than 20 businesses in sumptuous surroundings, 24/7 access and excellent on-site facilities. It has also been used as a pop up for Covid testing. A must-visit two minutes from the town centre. ............
