A new play area for youngsters is coming soon to Letchworth.

In mid-September, it is hoped the multipurpose compact sports area at Jackmans Central in Letchworth will open.

The news comes after it was revealed new interactive play equipment for children and young people has been installed in Baldock, with further installations in Hitchin and Royston.

However, the opening date of the Letchworth site has been delayed.

The council said: "Unfortunately [the opening has] been delayed [due to issues] getting it connected to the electricity supply."

The total cost of the four pieces of interactive play equipment is £221,657 which was funded from the council's play area capital investment budget.
