Did you witness incident on A1M near Letchworth?

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident on the A1M near Letchworth Garden City on Tuesday (7 March).

It was reported that an altercation occurred between the male drivers of two vehicles sometime between 340pm and 4pm, which resulted in them stopping on the hard shoulder of the southbound carriageway, between junctions nine and eight.

One of the drivers was subsequently assaulted and the keys to his Ford Transit van were stolen, before the suspect made off in a white vehicle.

The victim was uninjured.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build, with brown hair and a beard.

PC Joe Massey, who is investigating, said: "Our enquiries are continuing at this time to trace the driver involved.

"As part of the investigation, we'd like to hear from any witnesses who think they may have seen the incident, or the events leading up to it.

"I'd be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured dash cam footage.

"If you were travelling in the area around the time and have one fitted, please review any footage and contact us if you think you may have captured something of note. Thank you."
