Ruth Brown selected as the Liberal Democrat General Election Candidate for North East Herts
Liberal Democrats select local community champion Ruth Brown as parliamentary candidate for North East Hertfordshire
Ruth Brown is a District & Town Councillor and has been Deputy Leader of North Herts Council for 2 years, with responsibility for Planning & Transport. Her working life has been spent largely in the charity sector, in adult education and volunteer management and most recently as a freelance trainer, specialising in mental health related topics. Ruth has lived in Royston for 35 years and has a track record as a community champion, delivering for local residents.
Ruth's priority issues for a Fair Deal for North East Herts are:
Protecting our environment through sustainable development, promoting active travel, reducing waste, increasing recycling and providing high quality green spaces.
Creating a more equal society by building affordable homes, supporting the most vulnerable and widening access to education and employment.
Providing easy access to health & social care for all, by promoting and expanding community based services for physical and mental health and social care.
Ruth says: "I am absolutely delighted to have been selected by local party members as the Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for North East Herts to fight the seat at the next general election.
"I will work tirelessly to hold the Tories and the Conservative candidate to account on the issues that really matter to the country and our area.
"This includes the climate emergency, an economy fit for the future, funding for education and special educational needs, inequalities, our NHS and social care; and strong local democracy, so that our communities can shape their area and bring about positive change."
