Staff shortages caused by Covid forces train operators to slash timetable - find out more

The impact of Covid on staff has resulted in train timetables being slashed in our area.

Great Northern and Thameslink have confirmed they will run reduced train timetables from Tuesday [January 4] until further notice.

The restrictions come after the crippling impact of Covid on staff sickness including drivers has seen Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) - the franchise that runs Thameslink, Great Northern and Southern - to reveal reduced services on weekdays.

GTR says a reduced timetable will help ensure a more reliable service and fewer last-minute cancellations.

Commuters are advised to check train times before they travel with GTR claiming that the changes will lead to a more reliable service by cutting frustrating last-minute cancellations.
