A pub near Royston is aiming to win a prestigious social media crown for the second time in three years this spring.

The Fox and Duck in Therfield won the title of Digital Pub of the Year at the Greene King awards two years ago - and is now hoping to secure the crown for a second time.

The popular pub, situated three miles from Royston, and six from Baldock, was previously recognised for its use of social media to promote its business and events - with landlord Ivan Titmuss explaining: "I started to really appreciate the value of quality social media a few years ago.

"Our posts seem to resonate with our customers and the wider community.

"We like to make them fun and engaging and I'm never afraid to dress up and do something silly if it helps promote our events."

As Nub News has previously reported, The Fox and Duck regularly holds charity activities and is home to the annual Hertfordshire Burger Eating Contest

Ahead of the Green King Night of Excellence Awards in Stratford-upon-Avon in April a 'mystery shopper' will visit the popular pub to help the judges make a final decision.

Ivan is hoping the pub's warm welcome and varied menu will help pick up positive feedback before the awards night.

"I am incredibly proud of The Fox and Duck and hope to impress whoever comes to visit," he said, adding: "We are a traditional village pub with a first-class restaurant serving good quality food, most of it locally sourced,"

"Our social media and TripAdvisor reviews help bring customers in and they're not disappointed."
