Letchworth Sinfonia Winter Concert

Save the date: Letchworth Sinfonia are gearing up to play a concert in the heart of our town later this month.

On Saturday, January 20 the acclaimed Sinfonia will be playing at their usual venue, the Letchworth Free Church.

This building at the Howard Park end of Leys Avenue is said to have excellent acoustics.

Letchworth Festival said: "As it's January, the Sinfonia have very thoughtfully made this an 'afternoon' concert, so that people don't have to come out in the dark and cold - and quite probably wet - evenings.

"Please go along and support the orchestra - and build their performance into your day in Letchworth - a spot of shopping, visit to Broadway Gallery, meet for lunch [and] brighten up a dull January weekend."

Doors open at 230pm in readiness for the concert to start at 3pm.

Dear England

Live screening from the National Theatre at the Studio Queen Mother Theatre in Hitchin

Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid's Tale) plays Gareth Southgate in James Graham's (Sherwood) gripping examination of nation and game.

The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss.

Why can't England's men win at their own game?

With the worst track record for penalties in the world, Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt, to take team and country back to the promised land.

Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Rupert Goold (Judy) directs this spectacular new play.
