Detectives are appealing for information and dash cam footage following an incident in Stevenage.

Police were called just after 11.50pm on Wednesday 19 June to reports of a serious assault in Walden End.

The East of England Ambulance Service attended, and a 61-year-old man who can now be named as Peter Lynch, was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds and died a short time later.

A 34-year-old woman, who was known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder. She has since been released on police bail.

An investigation was launched by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit who are now appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Lee Martin, who is investigating, said: "Our thoughts are with Peter's family at this very difficult time and are being supported by our officers. I understand this may cause concern to the local community, but I'd like to reassure everyone that there is not believed to be any wider risk to the public.

"I would like to hear from anyone who was in the Walden End or Six Hills area at around 11.30pm on Wednesday and may have witnessed or heard something that could help us progress this investigation.

"If you have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle and were in the area at the time, please review your footage as you may have captured something vital that could assist with our enquiries."
