Following the death of Her Majesty The Queen Letchworth councillor Daniel Allen has expressed deepest sympathies to the Royal Family.

The Letchworth Grange councillor joins the whole nation and the Royal Family in mourning the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

Councillor Allen, who is also vice-chair of North Herts Council said: "On behalf of all our residents, we would like to express our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family.

"As the longest serving monarch in British history, Her Majesty The Queen devoted her life to our country and was a symbol of unity, strength and hope for us all.

"I will be writing to His Majesty The King and members of the Royal family to express our most sincere condolences on behalf of the district. Many of you will want to share your own messages of condolence and we encourage North Herts residents to take a moment to sign Hertfordshire's www.lord-lieutenant-herts.co.uk online book of condolence.

"I hope in this difficult time that we can find comfort in our shared memories of a remarkable woman who united us as a Queen in grace and in dignity for over seventy years."

As a mark of respect for her extraordinary life and reign, the Union flag at the council's headquarters in Letchworth Garden City is being flown at half-mast. Flags at other council locations are also being flown at half-mast.
