A man has been arrested in Letchworth town centre after he allegedly threatened a person with an offensive weapon and was racially abusive.

Herts Police were called at 930am on Thursday, (January 18) to Morrisons in Broadway, before locating the suspect in Hillbrow.

The man is 44-years-old from Hitchin. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, affray, threats to kill, and a racially-aggravated public order offence.

He remains in custody at this time, and a police investigation has been launched.
